Sometimes the fiber that binds us to someone
Is sturdy, secure, tightly spun.
The strength of a love that is carefully woven
Is steadfast and can’t be undone.
Well-made, be it garments, relationships, peace
Will last to be given away.
But substitute strength for a delicate tether
And soon you will notice a fray.
Fragile and dainty are two different things,
And sometimes the thread simply mends.
So while you’re constructing your healing and hope,
Take care not to leave loose the ends.
For that which develops in pain, grief or sorrow
Deserves to be cherished no less.
The Artist, the Weaver, the Tailor, will see,
And then your inheritance bless.
